Budgies are smart, curious birds that need daily mental stimulation. A bored budgie may show signs like feather plucking, pacing, excessive squawking, or lethargy. To keep your feathered friend happy, provide a variety of toys—chew toys, swings, ladders, or mirrors.
Change the toys regularly and rearrange the cage layout to create novelty. Offer foraging opportunities by hiding treats in shreddable paper or inside puzzle toys. Music, bird-safe videos, and gentle interaction also help keep them engaged.
Spend time each day talking to or playing with your budgie. Teaching them simple tricks or words can be great enrichment. An active, stimulated budgie is healthier, better behaved, and more fun to be around.
