Introducing a new budgie to your existing pet requires care. First, quarantine the new bird in a separate cage and room for 2 weeks to ensure it’s healthy. During this time, observe for signs of illness and begin bonding with the new bird.
Once cleared, place the cages near each other so the birds can see and hear one another. After a few days, allow brief supervised interactions in a neutral area. Watch for signs of aggression like chasing or biting.
If both birds seem curious or playful, you can try placing them in the same cage with plenty of space and perches. Monitor their behavior closely for the first few days. Proper introduction helps reduce stress and builds a peaceful flock.
